Verbs with Prepositions A & DI
Most of the time when an Italian verb is followed by an Infinitive verb, we can use two prepositions between the two verbs: A or DI
Verbi in -ARE – Conjugate the verb in the Present Tense
To use an -are verb, first, you remove the letters –are from the infinitive, which leaves you with the stem:
infinitive → parlare
stem: → parl-
Verbi in -ERE – Conjugate the verb in the Present Tense
To use an -ere verb, first, you remove the letters –ere from the infinitive, which leaves you with the stem:
infinitive → leggere
stem: → legg-
Verbi in -IRE – Conjugate the verb in the Present Tense
To use an -ire verb, first, you remove the letters –ire from the infinitive, which leaves you with the stem:
infinitive → dormire
stem: → dorm-
